The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) requested for a power outage of 6 hours and 30 minutes due to limited supply of fuel for thermal power plants.

The Public Utilities Commission approved it  for April 5-8. Areas ABCDEFGHIJKL - 4 hours from 8am to 5pm and 2 hours and 30 minutes from 5pm to 10pm. Areas PQRSTUVW - 4 hours from 10am to 6pm and 2 hours and 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm. Area CC1 - 3 hours and 30 minutes from 6.00am to 9.30am.
