The UNP cannot ally with politicians who act in an immature manner, its General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said yesterday.   

“We heard one politician accusing the Yahapalana government of trying to destroy him politically by storing paddy at the Mattala Airport. 

Paddy was stored in Mattala Airport following a decision made by the cabinet. 

This politician was also a member of the cabinet then. However he kept mum when the decision was made to store paddy at the airport,” Mr. Range Bandara said in response to Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa who recently opposed the move by the Yahapalana government to store paddy in Sri Lanka’s second international airport. “There was an excess stock during that time. 

We used the airport as it was lying idle,” he added.  “Many suggest that all opposition parties should get together to defeat the present regime. 

How can we get together with such immature politicians? Anyway we will ally with the right kind of people,” he also said.
