Parliament council had approved the appointment of Sanjay Rajaratnam as the new  Attorney General, Parliament media unit said.  

The media unit, which quoted House Secretary-General Dhammika Dassanayake said yesterday that Mr. Rajaratnam was nominated to the post by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa recently.   In addition, the council had approved Sanjaya Jayawardena as a member of Central Bank Monetary Board, H. Jayantha as a member of Missing Persons Office and D. P. P. Fernando as a member of Reparation office.
