Parliament approves emergency regulations imposed to distribute essential goods



  • 132 MPs voting for and 51 against
  • 31 MPs were absent during voting

Emergency regulations imposed by the government to distribute essential goods to the people was approved in Parliament yesterday, with 132 MPs voting for it and 51 against.

A total of 31 MPs were absent during the voting time.


Those MPs including Muslim MPs of ACMC and SLMC who voted in favour of 20th  Amendment voted in favour of emergency regulations. MP Aravind Kumar also voted in favour. The absentees included  Wimal Weerawansa, Bandula Gunawardena, Harin Fernando and Ranil Wickremesinghe.
