Security in and around the Parliamentary complex have been beefed up because of the ongoing trend of street protests, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana said yesterday. 

Speaker Abeywardana told Daily Mirror that the Security Council has decided to beef up security in and around Parliament today. 

There were protests in the premises by artists yesterday while Parliament is to meet today. 

Some MPs are expected to sit independently in opposition today according to political sources . The House is expected to debate the IMF report on Sri Lanka on Friday April 8.
