Parliamentarians Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayatilleke remanded

 Colombo Fort Magistrate yesterday remanded Parliamentarians Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayatilleke until May 25 in connection with the mob attack carried out on peaceful protesters at the Galle Face Green and near Temple Trees Monday (09).   


The CID produced the two suspects before Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday and Deputy Solicitor General Riaz Bary appearing with Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama and State Counsel Ajith Bandara moved to remand the suspect as the investigations by the CID  are not yet concluded.  The DSG said that the CID had recorded the statements of several victims who had asserted that the two suspects had been actively involved in the attack carried out on the peaceful protesters at Colpetty and Galle Face on May 9.   
The DSG also asserted that some of the victims who sustained injuries are presently being given indoor treatment at the National Hospital at Colombo and in the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital.
