Some political parties have run into trouble finalizing nominations as the deadline to hand them over closes in.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa who referred to the issues faced by his party requested all relevant parties to cooperate. “Finalizing nominations is a complicated process. Please cooperate with us,” he told everyone gathered at the party office before finalizing nominations yesterday.

The party had some issues with regard to nominations in the Jaffna and Badulla Districts. Former MP P. Digambaram said the issue with regard to the Baddulla list was that one party member did not want nominations given to those from estates. Digambaram confirmed that this member had resigned from the SJB yesterday.

It was reported that the New Democratic Front also had some issue in finalizing its nominations in Kalutara. Asked about the issue, former Minister Vidura Wickramanayake told media that it is natural for a party to face issues when finalizing nominations. “Can one name a party which does not run into trouble when finalizing nominations?, he questioned.
