Leaders of political parties who met yesterday decided to appoint a national council.  The national council will comprise 37 members which will represent political parties in Parliament. 

Setting up of a national council is one of the major political reforms which was proposed recently.   
Earlier on Tuesday, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said the national council will be finalized within a week.
