Passengers from 8 South African countries barred from disembarking in SL



  • Passengers with a travel history (including transit) in the past 14 days  to Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia  and Zimbabwe will not be permitted to disembark in SL with effect  from July 1

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka directed all online and offline airlines that passengers with a travel history (including transit) in the past 14 days to Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe will not be permitted to disembark in Sri Lanka with effect from July 1.  

Director General of Civil Aviation Capt. Themiya Abeywickrama said that the above restriction would be applicable until July 31 in accordance with instructions received from the Ministry of Health, due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
