The Pathfinder Foundation will be hosting the next webinar of its “In Conversation” series on Wednesday, August 11. The distinguished guest at this virtual event will be British Conservative Party politician in the House of Lords, The Rt. Hon. Lord Naseby PC and he will be in conversation with Chairman, Pathfinder Foundation, Bernard Goonetilleke, where they will discuss Lord Naseby’s longstanding association with Sri Lanka and his recently published book ‘SRI LANKA – Paradise Lost, Paradise Regained’.
Michael Wolfgang Laurence Morris, Baron Naseby, PC is a British Conservative Party politician and Life peer, who has sat under this title in the House of Lords since November 1997. He was first elected to the House of Commons as Michael Morris at the February 1974 general election for the then-marginal seat of Northampton South. He oversaw the passing of the Maastricht Treaty in the Commons in his role as Deputy Speaker. From 1992, Michael Morris held the nonvoting position of Chairman of Ways and Means and Deputy Speaker, and after the election, he accepted a life peerage to become Baron Naseby of Sandy in the County of Bedfordshire in October 1997. Previous webinars of the “In Conversation” series have featured Ambassador Shaym Saran, former Foreign Secretary to the Government of India on India and China disengagement process, Dr. Faris Hadad - Zervos, World Bank Country Director for Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka on Navigating an Economy in an Uncertain World; Ambassador Shivshankar Menon, who discussed his most recent publication ‘India and Asian Geopolitics: The Past, Present’; and Prof. Shanta Devarajan on “What can Sri Lanka, the World Bank and the IMF learn from each other”. The virtual ‘In Conversation’ event with Lord Nasby will be conducted over ‘Zoom’ on August 11 at 6.30 p.m. Sri Lanka time.
