Pay your half a million electricity dues - CEB warns Dayasiri

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has sent a notice to parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera informing him to settle his electricity bill dues amounting to Rs. 637,448.38.  

The letter was issued by the CEB on September 29 to his official residence at No. 12, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7, via registered post under the CEB account number 0794191932.  The letter said that there was a pending payment of Rs. 494,739.69 when handing over the residence to the said minister in 2016.   Relating to the account, Rs. 1,132,188.07 has to be paid up to the month of August, 2022.  The CEB had informed the Minister that the total payment was due by October 15. The CEB also informed the Minister to settle the payment to avoid disconnection of power without further notice.

Denying that he had defaulted electricity bills , MP Dayasiri Jayasekara yesterday said a few former ministers are responsible for the outstanding payments.  

Late Minister Richard Pathirana and former minister Atthauda Seneviratne who occupied the official residence had not paid electricity bills
