People are not protected against COVID-19 until completion of two weeks after both vaccinations, a medical expert said.  

Health Promotion Bureau Director Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa told media that there is a wrong perception in society that those who have been administered with both doses are fully protected. 

“There will be no protection for anyone who has got both shots until two weeks. He may still get infected or die of the virus during the period of two weeks,” he highlighted. 

“However, it should be noted that after the period of two weeks, the recipients of both doses will get a shield against the virus but should act in such a manner that they would not spread the virus among others,” he added.
