The OIC of the Wanathawilluwa Police was taken into custody yesterday by the Commission to Investigate allegations of bribery or corruption on suspicion of demanding sex and cash gratifications from a woman- landed proprietor in Chilaw.   

He had been in the company of the woman at a hotel in Puttalam when the Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested him.   

It is alleged that the suspect police officer had promised to prevent legal action regarding her cash transactions and land disputes.   

However, the investigation officers of the Bribery Commission had carried out the raid on the complaint received from the woman concerned and arrested him.   

The suspect had been taken to the Puttalam Headquarter Police to record his statement. He was to be produced before the Puttalam Magistrate today.
