A request made by the Colpetty Police to remove a group of protesters who rallied outside Temple Trees was yesterday rejected by Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala made this order pursuant to a request made by the Colpetty Police claiming that an ongoing protest outside Temple Trees in Colpetty was causing disturbance to the public.
However, the Additional Magistrate observed that police can take appropriate action in accordance with Police Ordinance in the event any disturbance was caused to the public.
