• Committee headed by Dinesh Gunawardena

The political parties – the United National Party (UNP), Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP), Deshavimukthi Janatha Party, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) and Muslim National Alliance- have been requested to submit their proposals on electoral reforms to the parliamentary select committee working on the subject.        

  The committee headed by Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has made the request

The committee is to meet today and tomorrow with Mr. Gunawardena expected to chair. 

Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva,  Prof. G. L. Peiris, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Douglas Devananda, Wimal Weerawansa,  Ali Sabry and  MPs Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Jeewan Thondaman, Kabir Hashim, Ranjith Madduma Bandara,, Mano Ganesan, M. A. Sumanthiran, Madura Withanage and Sagara Kariyawasam are expected participate in the meeting.
