Pope Francis in a letter addressed to Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has expressed his solidarity with him in uncovering the truth with regard to Easter Sunday attacks and meting out justice to those who were affected by the mayhem.
A part of the letter which was revealed said the following. " The situation with regard to the Easter Sunday attacks makes me very sad I promise to pray more. I am ready to do whatever you consider opportune. Tomorrow I will speak with the Secretary of State Vatican about it. Please count on me and indicate what would be best to be done from here,".
Commenting on the matter head of Social Relations unit Archdiocese of Colombo Fr. Jude Crishantha confirmed the recept of the letter from the Pope . However he said it has been decided not to publish the full letter.
Meanwhile Cardinal Ranjith who.participated in a service at Katuwapitiya Church Negombo on October 21 assured the devotees that Leader of the Catholic Church is ready to wipe the tears." Church leaders will never abandon those who have suffered as a result of the Easter Sunday bomb attacks therefore be courageous," he said.
