Singer Sunil Perera was rushed to hospital on Sunday night after he had a sudden attack of pneumonia and passed away during earlier hours in the morning yesterday according to family members.

Sunil suffered from this illness just a few days after he was discharged from hospital after receiving treatment for COVID-19. Having Studied at St Sebastian’s College and St Peter’s College Bambalapitiya, Sunil formed the popular singing group Gypsies in the 1970s and rose to fame with several popular hits such as Linda Langa Sangamaya, Kurumitto, Ojaye, Sinyore, Pahasuwath Vasiyathat and Lunu Dehi. Almost all these songs are evergreen hits. He also acted in one Tele Drama where he played a role of a Postman.
