The government has already initiated preliminary investigations into the Easter Sunday bomb attacks and the Central Bank Bond scam, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Vijitha Herath said yesterday.
He told the weekly Cabinet briefing that the investigations have been initiated by the Public Security Ministry. He said these preliminary investigations have been launched by the Public Security Ministry.
The Minister said report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) into the bond scam, report of the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) and the report of the Special Presidential Commission appointed by former president Maithripala Sirisena will be taken into consideration in the investigation process.
“Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is no longer the President and he is not entitled to presidential immunity now. The case did not proceed due to his presidential immunity. Now, the government has powers to summon him before court,” he said.
