• This government has neglected a number of judgements given by the judiciary

The Church is prepared to work with the government to resolve burning issues if it makes an attempt to resolve issues as decided upon by the judiciary, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said.

“ There is no issue for us to work with the government if a honest effort is made to resolve issues such as the economic crisis if the government works in accordance with the judgements delivered by the judiciary,” the cardinal told journalists after a Christmas programme.   
“ This government had neglected a number of judgements given by the judiciary, “ he added.   
The Cardinal has been critical of the respective government’s with regard to Easter Sunday attacks in 2019. He blamed the previous Yaha Palana regime for failing to prevent the attacks and the present regime for failing to bring those who orchestrated the attacks to book.
