President, and opposition to discuss debt restructuring process on Monday

President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday announced that he will meet the opposition parties on Monday to discuss Sri Lanka’s engagement with the IMF and the creators on the debt restructuring process. 
  
“I have heeded the request made by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harsha de Silva who has made a very good proposal. He requested that I get the opposition involved in the negotiations with regard to debt restructuring. Therefore I will meet opposition parties on Monday to discuss the issue,” Mr. Wickremesinghe said addressing the launch of the book. ‘Press vs the Prez,’ at Nelum Pokuna last evening.   
“The government will work on the basis of the agreement which it reach with opposition with regard to debt restructuring. We will deal with the IMF based on these agreements,” the President said.   
“We have reached the last days of a difficult period. I met visiting IMF officials yesterday. This was the last review of Sri Lanka’s situation with regard to debt before the meeting of the official creditors committee. We have taken positive steps but the committee will make its decision within the next few weeks. Private creditors will make their decisions based on the decision of the official creditors committee. I have no doubt that there will be positive results with regard to debt restructuring,” he said.   
“The newly launched book comprises cartoons of President Wickremesinghe that have been published in the print media.
