President wants SPC Chairman to stay until replacement found

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has reportedly informed Chairman of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC), Dr. Prasanna Gunasena to remain in the position for another one month until a replacement is found, informed sources told Daily Mirror.  


Dr. Gunasena had earlier conveyed his intention about retirement in writing.  According to  sources, the President has agreed to his intention to step down from the post as SPC Chairman.  However, Dr. Gunasena has been asked to stay another one month until a suitable replacement is found for the post.  

He was also reportedly seen at the COVID Task Force meeting held last morning under the chairmanship of President Rajapaksa.  


Daily Mirror’s continuous attempts to contact Dr. Gunasena were of no avail.
