• Subjects assigned to Education Ministry
• Prison Management and Prisioners’ Rehabilitation Ministry also abolished   
• Subjects brought under Justice Ministry

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has brought about changes in ministerial subjects in an extraordinary gazette notification .  

 In this exercise , the subjects and the institutions held by sacked State Minister Susil Premajayantha has been brought under the purview of Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardane. They are the National Education Commission and the National Institute of Education .  

The president also scrapped the State Ministry of Prison Management and Prisoners’Rehabilitation . The institutions and functions of that ministry have been assigned to the Justice Ministry.  Lohan Ratwatte was the State Minister earlier. However, he resigned from the post following an allegation made against him that he had forcibly made some prisoners detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.to kneel down before him.  
The Central Cultural Fund that remained under the purview of the Ministry of Economic Policies and Plan Implementation has been brought under Buddha Sasana Ministry .  Local Government Elections Ordinance (262 Chapter) and Provincial Councils Elections Act, No. 2 of 1988 have been brought under the Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government from the State Ministry of Provincial Councils
