• The scheduled medical devices, shall not be offered for sale or charged above the maximum retail price

The maximum retail price of a number of medical devices including stents, test strips, intraocular lenses, blood glucose monitoring systems and pulse oximeters has been amended in an Extraordinary Gazette.
As per the Gazette notification, the maximum retail price of a Bare Metal Stent has been amended as Rs. 38,597.45 while the MRP of a Drug Eluting Stent as Rs.168,732.

 The maximum price of a Pulse Oximeter has been revised as Rs. 3,870.

In addition, the maximum price of a blood glucose monitoring system has been revised as Rs. 4,429.22 per unit while the maximum price of test strips used for these systems will be sold at Rs. 80.15 per strip.
“A manufacturer, importer, trader, provider, distributor, pharmacist, medical practitioner, medical institution including a private medical institution, pharmacy or person who or which is in possession of the scheduled medical devices, shall not sell, offer for sale or charge above the maximum retail price,” the Gazette stated.
