The Deputy Principal of a school in Galle was taken into custody on suspicion of sexually abusing a 12 year old schoolgirl. The suspect is a 56 year father of two children.   

Police said that the victim was one of the students attending a tuition class held by the suspect in his house.   

Investigations revealed that the suspect had sexually abused the girl when she was all alone waiting for her sister to take her home after the class and other children had left.   The victim told police that the suspect took her into a room when the class was over at 12.30pm and entertained her to tea and abused her. 

OIC Children and Women’s Bureau SI Chaodari and SI Nihal Migelhewa are conducting further investigations on the instructions of HQI S. S. Jayaweera.
