• Says a similar incident occurred at a recent protest in Colombo Fort

Claiming that the egg-throwing attack targeting JVP leader  Anura Kumara Dissanayake was a politically motivated and an organised  attack, JVP MP Vijitha Herath said yesterday that a private security  firm was behind the attack.   

He told a news conference that a group led by the security  firm involved in a similar attack at a protest march organised by the  JVP in Colombo Fort recently.  He said it was clear that the attack was politically motivated.  
MP Herath also said two complaints were made with regard to  the incident and that the two suspects had revealed that they were paid  Rs. 5,000 to carry out the attack.  
“The aim of those who manoeuvred the attack was to show  that it was an attack by the public. A similar incident occurred  at a recent protest in Colombo Fort as well. Two of the mob were captured  by our party supporters and handed over to the police. 

What they were  trying to do was recorded in CCTV cameras. The two persons are attached  to a Security Firm. It is clear from photos of them wearing uniforms of  the firm. They have admitted it in their statement. This attack was  planned on the need of the security firm,” he said.  

The JVP Parliamentarian said those who resorted to such a  spiteful action, not to do such things and urged them to confront with  policies.  
He said the JVP’s programme could not be stopped by such  cowardice attacks and that the government would be further subject to  disgrace among the people due to these attacks.
