Sri Lanka could be safe from COVID- 19 only if 80 percent of the population is fully vaccinated, SLPP MP- Professor Tissa Vitharana told Parliament yesterday.
Professor Vitharana a Virologist by profession said people should keep two- metre- distance when they went out of their household. “ Wearing face-masks in a proper manner is a must. One must wash his or her hands when they touch something while being away from their residence. One should also realise that the virus could be present in any object outside the house as the disease is found in the community,” the MP said.
He said this message should be taken to rural level as soon as possible.
“ If we are able to make people to strictly follow health guidelines, we will able to avoid the pandemic by spending least amount of funds’’ he added.
