An amended proposal prepared by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to increase electricity tariffs is due to be received next week, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said.
They said the CEB recently submitted a proposal to its commission to increase electricity tariffs.
"The proposals are currently being evaluated by the commission. However, due to the changes that have taken place with the decision of the Central Bank to allow the exchange rates to fluctuate freely due to the USD, several amendments are to be submitted by the CEB," the PUCSL said.
However, the PUCSL said a cost-based tariff system will be introduced in the future.
