Amidst planned public demonstrations against the government across the country tomorrow, Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara said the law enforcement authorities had been kept on alert to avert any untoward incident.
The Minister told Daily Mirror that people are entitled to peaceful demonstrations, and the security authorities won’t disrupt them. However, he said the law would be enforced in the event of any damage to public properties.
“Everyone is entitled to peaceful demonstrations. But, any damage to public properties cannot be allowed. If there are such attempts, the law will be enforced,” he said.
