The Railway Department is contemplating to increase the seat reservation charges from 30% to 60% from June 1, Railway Department Deputy General Manager (Commercial) V.S. Polwattage said.   

He said that the seat reservation fares for trains plying on the main line, Northern line, Batticaloa line, Coastline, Trincomalee and Mannar lines has been increased.   

However, the normal train fare, parcel handling charges and other fares will remain unchanged.
