Former MP Ranjan Ramanayake is currently discussing with his lawyers to decide whether to submit an apology for contempt of court, one of his legal consultants said yesterday.
One of the consultants said Mr. Ramanayake will make the final decision in two days’ time.
Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe said on Wednesday that Mr. Ramanayake would be set free if he submits a written apology to the judiciary for contempt of court.
Reports said Mr. Ramanayake would be pardoned and released next week if he submits an apology during the weekend.
