Actor turned politician and former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake, who is serving a four-year imprisonment at the Angunukolapelassa Prison, has been admitted to the Karapitiya hospital to receive medical attention to his knee. 

Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said that Mr. Ramanayake was admitted to the hospital on June 23 and is still under treatment.

Earlier, he was brought to the Karapitiya Hospital for a medical examination and later was admitted for in house treatment after the doctors confirmed that his knee needs medical attention.  

The spokesman said that Mr. Ramanayake will be required to stay in the hospital for several days for treatment under security.
