• I will accept the post if I am elected

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka yesterday said he is ready to accept the presidency if majority members in Parliament elect him to the post.  

“I have been asked to contest for the presidency by some sections of MPs including a group from SLPP. Therefore, I will accept the post if I am elected,” Field Marshal Fonseka told a media briefing a short while ago. 
Asked whether he had informed his leader Sajith Premadasa, Fonseka said he has not. “I don’t have to tell the leader about my personal discussions,” he said. 

Also, he told the Aragalaya groups that they should not be in a hurry to hand over the state buildings which are held by them.
