The Central Bank of Sri Lanka said speculations mislead that expatriates’ remittances to Sri Lanka are taxed and forcibly converted into Sri Lankan currency is completely false. There are no taxes on remittances and Sri Lankan expatriates are free to maintain such remittances in foreign currency or convert such remittances into Sri Lankan rupees at their discretion, the CBSL said.
Expatriate Sri Lankans can continue to enjoy the current incentives without any change whatsoever.
