Reservoirs on the brink of spilling over

Castlereagh and Maussakele reservoirs had stood very close to the spillover level yesterday morning.   
The engineers in Charge of the reservoirs said the water  level in Castlereagh reservoir stood seven feet below the spillover  level, and that of Maussakele reservoir four feet below spillover level. They said the capacity of the two reservoirs had increased to 90 per cent would spill over in a couple of  days if the prevailing heavy rain experienced in the catchments  persisted.   


The engineers said Wimalasurendra, Laxapana, New Laxapana,  Polpitiya, and Canyon power complexes were in full swing generating  maximum power.
