Road accident: Lohan apologizes in court and agrees to Pay Rs. 1 Mn to settle case

Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte, who was arrested and remanded for driving under the influence of liquor, causing an accident, and allegedly threatening a lawyer, publicly apologized to the lawyer in open court yesterday (09).  The case, which was taken up at the Fort Magistrate’s Court regarding the threat charge, saw Ratwatte offer his apology.   
During the proceedings, the lawyers representing the aggrieved party, stated that Ratwatte had agreed to pay Rs. 1 million to the aggrieved party, who was willing to settle the matter.   
After reviewing all the details, Fort Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali ordered Ratwatte’s release on two surety bonds of Rs. 1 million each.
