A debt collector from a private sector bank in Puttalam town sustained serious injuries after his motorcycle collided with a donkey that ran across the road.

The incident occurred at the 4th km post on the old Mannar road while the collector was on duty, travelling from Wanathawilluwa to Puttalam. He was rushed to Puttalam Base Hospital, where a spokesman confirmed he had sustained a fracture.  

Tragically, the donkey suffered a fatal injury, with a one-foot long incise wound in the chest causing instantaneous death. Puttalam police have launched an investigation into the incident.
