Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa is not infected with the COVID-19 virus and neither has he been admitted to the ICU, and rumors of his critical health are false, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Yoshitha Rajapaksa told Daily Mirror yesterday.

Following increasing reports that Rajapaksa was under critical care at a private hospital in Colombo, after being infected with the COVID-19 virus, Yoshitha said such reports were false and the Prime Minister was in good health.
“The Prime Minister is continuing his daily work and was at the COVID-19 Task Force yesterday morning. I urge people not to circulate false reports especially at this critical time when the country should be focused in overcoming this pandemic,” Yoshitha said.

Social media reports circulated earlier Friday stating that Rajapaksa had been rushed to hospital after being infected with the virus.
