Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha said yesterday he and his colleague MP Hector Appuhamy who visited Geneva recently missed the opportunity of speaking at the UNHRC sessions.

“Usually a person who wants to raise an issue is given only one and a half minutes to speak at the UNHRC sessions. My colleague Hector Appuhamy was given the 45th slot at the sessions but there was no time for him to speak at the sessions at the end of the day. We intend taking up this matter with UNHRC shortly,” he said.    MP Appuhamy was to raise the issue on Easter Sunday attacks,” he added.

“However we managed to speak at various side sessions and managed to pass out ideologies to the UN officials,” he also said.

Mr. Banadara also missed the opportunity to make his remarks but declined to give reasons. He was supposed to make remarks on the Online Safety Bill whereas Mr. Appuhami was to talk about Easter Sunday attacks.
