The main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya yesterday called for the arrest of State Minister Lohan Ratwatte who, the party claimed, had committed a few offences under the Code of Criminal Procedure Act.
MPs J. C. Alawathuwala and Rohana Bandara who lodged a complaint against Ratwatte at Police Headquarters called for the arrest. “The State Minister has violated the Code of Criminal Procedure Act by storming into the prison after nightfall and had unlawfully flaunted his pistol.  Therefore, we requested the IGP to arrest him,” Mr. Alawathuwala said.

“Arresting him will help ensure a proper investigation,” he added.

He said disciplinary action should be taken against the officers attached to Anuradhapura Prison who allowed the state Minister to enter into the prison at that time.

The two MPs have requested the IGP to carry out an investigation on the disclosure made by Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera who had warned of an imminent second extremist attack in Sri Lanka.
