SJB heading for split with TPA mulling to join Govt.

The main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is heading for a split with its alliance partner Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) mulling to join the proposed national unity government, informed sources said . The SJB , as a party, is not ready to be party to the government.    

However , the TPA remains open for invitations  by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to take up positions in the government.  


President Wickremesinghe during his meeting with the recent party leaders’ meeting discussed the formation of a national council and a national government .  The leaders of opposition parties such as Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) , Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and SJB attended it .  


The opposition parties made some reservations about joining hands with the government after troops cracked down on Galle Face protesters who occupied the entrance to the Presidential Secretariat .
