(SJB) to handover no confidence motion against the govt.: Mujibur

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is to handover a no confidence motion against the government to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene on Tuesday, April 19, an SJB MP said yesterday.   

SJB MP Mujibur Rahman told Daily Mirror that the motion will be handed over to the Speaker on Tuesday . “We will hand over the motion on Tuesday. Failing we will handover the motion on Wednesday. It will be handed over within the first two days of this parliamentary week,” he said.   


“The handing over of the impeachment motion has been delayed as it was necessary to obtain 113 signatures for the Speaker to entertain it,” he added.   


Priority has to be given to a no confidence motion as per the standing orders.   


Meanwhile, Rahman alleged that the government is promising dollar bribes to woo MPs to its side. “The amount offered to an MP is Dollars two million,” he alleged.
