While claiming that Sri Lanka is not maintaining an aggressive attitude towards the UNHRC, the UN or the European Union, Sri Lanka yesterday said that it was more than ready to face the UNHRC sessions coming up in March this year.
Responding to Daily Mirror at the post cabinet news conference last morning, Co-Cabinet spokesman, Plantation Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said that the government had taken a number of positive and constructive steps in the last two years to promote and protect reconciliation, rule of law and multitude of rights in Sri Lanka. “We do not have an aggressive attitude towards the UNHRC, the UN or the European Union. We maintain a good rapport with all these global agencies and take steps to address their concerns,” Minister Dr. Pathirana stressed.
“Sri Lanka would take part in the UNHRC sessions this year with confidence and appropriate responses if the UNHRC has any issues with Sri Lanka,’ he emphasized.
