Health authorities have observed a dramatic increase in the number of people getting the booster dose over the last few days, as misconceptions regarding the booster shot are getting debunked.

COVID-19 Coordinator Dr. Anwar Hamdani told Daily Mirror that they had noticed a dramatic increase in number of people getting the booster dose especially on Sunday (29) after a public discussion held on Statuary on media with regard to myths about the booster dose.

“It is promising to see that people have finally given up misconceptions regarding the booster dose, and have gradually started receiving the booster dose. Nearly 40 % of total population have so far received the booster shot,’ he stated.

“ Moreover, the sharp increase in COVID-19 cases has also prompted many people to call for an acceleration of the booster vaccination programme,” he added.
When asked what made the dramatic increase in COVID deaths yesterday, Dr Hamdani said when the caseload is high, the natural phenomena is that the death rate is eventually going up.

“When more people with comorbidities are identified as positive patients, there will be more deaths,” he stated.
“Thus, what should be done is to wear a mask properly and get booster dose as early as possible,” he added.
