A suspect who is a close associate of the late underworld figure Angoda Lokka and underworld figure ‘Harak Kata’, has died after he fell down  a quarry, when he went to show a cache of hidden weapons yesterday.  
Investigations revealed that the suspect was the gunman who shot SLPP member of the Kotikawatta Pradeshiya Sabha, Sumudu Rukshan, who was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen on August 2 at the Mulleriyawa 
Bank Junction.  

Police said the suspect was arrested by the STF in Nawagamuwa and during the interrogation, the suspect had reportedly given information that a cache of weapons was hidden in the Kaduwela area.  

Accordingly, the suspect was taken to recover the hidden weapons.  

It was reported that the suspect, Thiwan Shiran  fell from the quarry as he tried to escape from  
STF custody.  

The suspect was seriously injured and had died after being admitted to the Oruwala Hospital.  
An STF officer was also injured in the scuffle when the suspect tried to escape.  

Investigations revealed that the arrested, a resident of Kadawatha, has several charges including murders.
