The Special Task Force (STF) of the Police arrested seven persons for operating an illegal slaughterhouse at Tambala in Pulathisipura along with 68 head of cattle. 

The STF said it also confiscated 599 kilos of beef, parts of some seven cows and a set of tools used for slaughtering cattle. 

The suspects were handed over to the Pulathisipura Police to be produced in court. 

Accordingly, the Polonnaruwa Magistrate ordered that confiscated beef be destroyed in front of the OIC of the Pulathisipura while the cattle to be handed over to those who own them while other cattle to be handed over to the Animal Welfare Unit.
