The Indian Minister who was on a visit to Sri Lanka on Thursday met with the delegation of Mr. Premadasa’s Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and its alliance partners.

At the meeting, Mr. Premadasa said he would support India’s bid.

India’s quest for a permanent seat at the UNSC traces its origins to the early 1990s, coinciding with its nation’s rise in economic and political prominence on the global stage. (KB)
