Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday said he will continue to refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccine until the entire Sri Lankan population is vaccinated.

Speaking to the media after engaging in religious observances, Mr. Premadasa said he fell victim to the disease as he refused to get the vaccine. “I was infected with COVID-19 as I refused to get the vaccine. However I will continue my earlier stance of refusing it till the entire population in Sri Lanka is vaccinated,” Mr. Premadasa said.
“However we will follow health guidelines to avoid risks,” he added.

“People are devastated with the current pandemic. Therefore this is a time when the entire nation should come together to overcome the difficult situation,” he also said.   He thanked all the medical personnel who took care of him and his wife and the clergy who were engaged in religious observances seeking his recovery.
