Sale of ivory pearls foiled, suspects arrested

A group of four suspects including a woman who attempted to sell two ivory pearls for Rs. 8 million to a Chinese were arrested last morning by Matale Division Anti Vice Squad and the Crime Investigation Unit during a raid at the Uyanwatta car park.  

The suspects were from Ganemulla and Handungamuwa areas and one of them was an exorcist.   

Police said two others involved in the racket were absconding and that a police team was deployed to trace their hideouts and arrest them. Matale Division Crime Investigation Unit is conducting further investigations.
