The Education Ministry yesterday said all schools, pre-schools, pirivena, tuition classes and universities will remain closed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation.  

  Education Minister Prof. G.L Peiris said the government had a great interest in continuing the children’s education but the immediate priority  was to safeguard the health of the students. 

 
The schools and universities will be re-opened as soon as the current pandemic condition of the country returns to normalcy, he said.  

However, the ministry will inform the date of re-opening of schools and universities three days prior to the scheduled date.
