Secretary to Ministry of Public Administration resigns



  • Says he had reached the retirement stage in his career and sought to relinquish at least one month before completion of his service

Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration Pradeep Yasarathne has retired, triggering speculation on social media that it happened due to influence by the NPP government.

According to social media posts, he resigned due to what is called ‘unnecessary interference’ by the NPP (National People’s Power ) government .

However, when contacted by the Daily Mirror, Mr. Yasarathne said he had reached the retirement stage in his career and sought to relinquish at least one month before completion of his service .

“I have personal stuff related to my daughter to be attended to . So , I wanted to retire at least one month before the completion of service ,” he said.
He said there was no influence otherwise.
